Connecting With Parents
In my classroom, there are many ways I plan to involve parents in my future classroom by using different apps and sites to connect with them. One of these sites is Class Dojo. The first thing you see on the website is "keeping teachers, families, and kids connected", which tells me their main goal is connecting, which is my goal. Another way I could connect with parents is through Gmail, which would be much easier for parents/guardians who may not know how to use technology as well, and when it may be more difficult for them to understand something like Class Dojo. I would be able to create a mailing list so I can reach all of the parents at the same time. A downside to this is that even as a student now I already have so many emails I get every day, so my emails may get lost in other's accounts if they are in the same situation. Another way I could connect with parents is by creating a shared Google Calendar where I can put events they need to be aware of, and they can add it to their own calendar so things like signing a permission slip to send with their children to school the next day won't be forgotten about. I can also include a Google form to collect information that I would need from parents, and send it out using the mailing list.
